Course Outline:

In order to achieve the Focus Awards Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of the Prevention and Control of Infection in Health Care settings (RQF) learners must complete 4 mandatory units achieving a total of 15 credits.                 

  • Principles of the causes and spread of infection in health care settings.                                           

  • Principles of the importance of personal hygiene and health in the prevention and control of infection in health care settings.                                                                                   

  • Principles of decontamination, cleaning and waste management in health care settings.         

  • Principles of infection prevention and control in a health care setting.

Overview:

Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of the Prevention and Control of Infection in Health Care settings (RQF) is aimed at those learners currently working or intending to work in the health care sector.
The purpose of the Focus Awards Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of the Prevention and Control of Infection in Health Care settings (RQF) is to provide learners with the awareness of infection control, the causes and how to prevent the spreading of infection. 

Assessment & Certification:

Each learner is required to create a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates achievement of all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria associated with each unit.
