Course Outline:

Learners must achieve the following 9 mandatory units totalling 20 credits.                                             

  • Principles of diversity, equality and inclusion in adult social care settings.                                     

  • Understand person-centred approaches in adult social care settings.                                             

  • Principles of communication in adult social care settings.

  • Principles of personal development in adult social care settings.                                                       

  • Understand the role of the social care worker.     

  • Introduction to duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings.       

  • Understand health and safety in social care settings.

  • Understand how to handle information in social care settings.                                                         

  • Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care. 

Overview:

Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care (RQF) is aimed at those who are new or are intending to work within the adult social care in England. The Focus Awards Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care (RQF) is aimed at developing learner’s knowledge and understanding
of the following areas relating to working in adult social care:

  • Communication

  • Duty of care

  • Equality, diversity and inclusion

  • Handling information

  • Health and safety

  • Personal development

Assessment & Certification:

Each learner is required to create a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates achievement of all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria associated with each unit.
